Youth Ministry Mission Statement
We are heart-centered
Fun-loving facilitators,
Here to empower,
Affirm, and illuminate;
And to help our Youth
Seek their own truth;
In a reflective, creative,
And trusting environment.
Program Overview
Our curriculum follows the same philosophy that is used by the
Association of Unity Churches — A Living Curriculum. It is a story-based curriculum that uses stories from the Bible and other sources to help your child understand principles of Truth.
2012 Winter Program
About the program: “Don’t Laugh at Me”
Updated: Youth Ministry Schedule for February through June 2012
Nursery: Birth through Age 5
Our main focus with this age group is to reinforce the concept that Spirit is within us, around us, everywhere present and loves us unconditionally. This is done through loving care of your child, music and movement, creative projects thematic to the time of year and appropriate group and individual play.
UniChildren: Ages 4-6
The beginnings of metaphysical interpretation are introduced at this age group. To see Jesus as a person who had challenges and difficulties but created a relationship with God that helped him to move through these challenges with loving kindness and generosity.
UniKids: Ages 7-9
The child learns to understand that Jesus was a human being who lived as example of God moving in and through us. The children will learn that we are inherently good and have choices in actions.
Tweens: Ages 10-11
Tweens learn to be receptive to the idea that God is a mental attitude that works in and through us. They learn to understand that they are the creator of their own world through the thoughts they give power to and what they choose to see and believe. They begin to gain the ability to look past the literal appearance of a situation and to focus on the good the situation brings. They learn that the Kingdom of God is within them and that we each have the power to live and do as Jesus did.
Teens: Ages 12 and up
The teen program is the continuation of the Tween program emphasizing the idea that God is a mental attitude that works in and through us. In addition the Teens are encouraged to participate in activities provided by the adult Unity community and to create activities for all other age levels to promote intergenerational communication and interaction.
Basic Principles in Language for Children
- God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.
- I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone.
- I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.
- Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.
- I do and give my best by living the Truth I know I make a difference.
